Kiltox Ltd of Greenwich were appointed by
Architect James Dolan to investigate damp, in the basement of the Electoral
Reform Society’s Victorian building in Southwark, which was affecting both
internal and external walls of the property.
Trevor Crane CTIS, CRDS, one of our Surveyors, undertook a
full investigation and submitted an estimate to eradicate the damp problem.
This involved removing paint from the internal walls and installation of
a chemical DPC prior to applying tanking material and plastering some of the
walls (with Kiltox Mix 132 and 134).
The work was carried out within the schedule ensuring that
it was undertaken with as little inconvenience to the tenants as possible.
Noise was a factor to be considered but despite the fact that a cement
mixer was on site it would appear that the client was pleased with the final
results. Both the DPC and
plastering carry a 30 Year Guarantee.
Whilst working on site Trevor noticed over one of the doors
the inscription “WORKHOUSE AND WASH ROOMS” a far cry from its current use by
today’s residents the Electoral Reform Society!
Mr Peter Stock, Manager of the Society said, “We are pleased with the final results and feel that the work was undertaken in a professional way. It is reassuring to have it guaranteed. These old buildings require a lot of tender loving care”.
