Welcome Project for Refugees
Kiltox were approached by the charity, Welcome Project for
Refugees, to undertake a survey on their property in Penge.
We found that the building was suffering from Dry Rot and
Dry Rot fungus caused in part by defective waste pipes.
The remedial work required would necessitate an additional thickness of
Kiltox 132 damp course render to match the existing plasterwork to the external
walls. Flooring in the kitchen was
found to be unsafe and immediate repairs were recommended.
In order to keep costs to a minimum Kiltox undertook the
remedial plastering work and recommended that the client use their own
carpenter. Kiltox also suggested
that some of the work might be covered through insurance.
The Welcome Project for Refugees is a community centre for
people from all over the world seeking advice, counselling, a place to relax or
the opportunity to attend a course which might help them become adjusted to a
new way of life.
Mr Warren Powell, Director of the Refuge, said: “With a
constant flow of visitors to our facilities it was not possible to close down so
the remedial works had to be carried out whilst our work continued.
We have been established since 1996 helping asylum seekers
and refugees.
The work was carried out within the specified schedule.
It is comforting to know that Kiltox guarantees their DPC installation
for 30 years”.
